Sissoko, first words as a Juventus player

He's only had a brush with Juventus for now, but already he can't wait to wear his new number 22 shirt. Mohamed Lamine Sissoko has officially been a Juventus player since yesterday. And soon he'll be joining the squad, as his National team Mali has already been eliminated from the African Cup.

Before settling down in Turin, he spent two days in the city, just the time to sign the contract, undergo medical examinations and pose for a few traditional photos. And naturally say his first words as a Juventus player. Sissoko indeed gave his first Italian interview to Juventus Channel, in which he expressed all his happiness for the transfer to Juventus.

«I'm very happy to be in Turin – were Mohamed's first words - , I underwent the medical exams and I feel very good. Juventus are a great Club, exceptional players have played here, and it’s really fantastic to be part of such a set-up for a young guy like me, who’s just turned 23».

Yes, he did indeed turn 23 only a week ago (on January 22, to be precise), but he already has vast international experience. Two years at Valencia, two at Liverpool and a list of trophies won that could be the envy of many veterans who have been around far longer: one Spanish League title, one UEFA Cup, two European Super Cups (one with each team), one FA Cup and one English League Cup.

The aim is to continue winning at his new Club, of course, by immediately giving his contribution to his team mates and to his Manager, with whom he has a special relationship. «I've watched many Italian league games, it's great football and there are many talented players, some of which are at Juventus, so it's going to be fantastic to play at their side and also having the chance to work with Claudio Ranieri again. He was my Manager at Valencia, I know his personality and his convictions in terms of football, I think he's a great Manager».

And very soon Juve's fans will be able to see the player up close and cheer him on. In the meantime, Sissoko introduced himself to them, using clear and straightforward words. «I'm a fighter who likes to press. My aim is to become a great midfielder and I can reach it at Juventus. This will be a fundamental experience for me, an important step in my career».
